Join CBC British Columbia'sMatt Allenas host of an exclusive screening of an episode from CBC'sBlack Life: Untold Stories– an eight-part documentary series that reframes the rich and complex histories of Black experiences in Canada – on January 24 at VIFF Vancity Theatre.
The series features eight Black Canadian directors and their unique perspectives to considerations of slavery, Black empowerment, hip-hop, immigration, art and literature, sports, policing, and settlements, in separate episodes.
Presented in partnership with theBlack Life Impact Foundation, the event will feature a reception with light refreshments and food, and a screening of one episode ("Creation Insists"), followed by a Q&A with panelists – award-winning writer, David Chariandy and director/curator of Artspeak, Nya Lewis.
